Bartholomew

Barthlomew (also known as Nathaniel) was the youngest in a family of seven. He lived in Cana. His brother and sisters were either married or deceased at the time of his calling. Some people believe that Bartholomew was a merchant.

Bartholomew was around twenty-five years old when he joined the disciples. Philip brought Bartholomew to Jesus after Philip had decided to follow Jesus. (John 1:46-51) After the persecutions caused the disciples to flee from Jerusalem Bartholomew went and preached in many countries. He also translated the book of Matthew into Hebrew and any other language of where he happened to be at the time. In the end he was preaching in India.

In Albinopolis, in India. Bartholomew was beaten with staves,* then crucified; and after he died they chopped off his head.
